I really don't like what I've read so far about OpenID, but I'll give it one more try.

It really doesn't matter what I choose - I tried two options now.

    First comment: Any OpenID

    Second comment: Wordpress

    - it still goes to my Blogger profile!

Even if it did go to my Wordpress.com account, it doesn't help me at all.

I want it to point to my actual blog at http://www.lifecruiser.com, because I don't want my visitors to be forced to click more than one time to come to my blog.

    This is a tiresome procedure.

if you confirm your openid at wordpress you won't have a problem Captain....
I followed the instructions to the letter at Phydeaux and my wordpress blog link went through fine....
check the first link in the comments here ....it's a direct link to my wp blog...
thanks for having a go anyway :)

    Hi Kim,

I must be stressed out with this new OpenID system because phydeaux3 instructions are confusing and I finally found another Blogger (you) that has enabled OpenID without using OpenID links in the head section.

Hopefully, you can help me? Is Blogger OpenID enabled after I create a OpenID account?

  • Kim 6.12.07

    ok Debbie....
you have a blogspot blog so you need to go here to enable open ID...0n your blog
    Blogger in Draft
basically you have to log in through blogger in draft to enable this system on your blogspot blog

the address for blogger in draft is draft.blogger.com.
    go to settings...then comments....
I clicked the box anyone can comment (for now)....otherwise if people haven't got an openid they cannot comment....
you need to log on to your blog through Blogger in Draft....and also bookmark in your favourites to see your blog with the new commenting system...
at the moment I'm not getting email verification for comments...I'd say this may be a hiccup because of this being in the testing stages.....
best of luck with it and let me know how you go...as I am not an expert on these issues :)

  • Debbie Dolphin 6.12.07

    Thank you, Kim!

What a computer stone-age mess this new commenting system is!

Seems everyone is not not getting email verification for comments.

OpenID is now enabled at my Blog, but Blogger returns this error code: bx-yxh888 every time I use my OpenID to enter a test comment. As far as I know, all the setup steps were completed per the instructions. Looks like another day of double checking and testing the new system is needed?

  • Kim 6.12.07

I'm not getting email notifications either Debbie...
I do hope this is all worth it in the end...
I will pop over now and test your comments :)

    Hi Kim,

Good News, your WordPress ID is working at my Blog!
Still having issues with my Blogger OpenID.

And, OpenID, the Oxymoron of Google commenting? is another version of this Comment Crusade!

  • Kim 7.12.07

    that's great Debbie...
now I'll try and get the openid working for blogger...and I'll test it out at your blog...haha...
do you feel a bit like a guinea pig?
    I know I do :0

  • Debbie Dolphin 7.12.07

Like a Google Guinea Pig in a Blogger Bat Brace (or is it a Comment Rat Race?) !!!!

Yet, somebody needs to do this and we both picked the short straws!

  • Kim 7.12.07

    haha Debbie...
    ..blogger bat brace...
I'm still working on the open id.... :)

  • Debbie Dolphin 7.12.07

    Hi Kim,

Using MyOpenID and my Blog Link works right when the comment id previewed,
but my Blog link changes to my Bio Page when my comment is published at Blog.
Checking to see if this occurs at your Blog?

  • Anonymous 7.12.07

    Hi Kim,

Cape Google, we have OpenID Lift off!

I was finally able to complete step 4 by adding step 4a., 4b., and 4c. at OpenID, the Oxymoron of Google commenting? and verify that it works!

    I hope this helps you?

  • Kim 7.12.07

yes you have it Debbie !!!!
I will have to copy your instructions and start again....eek...

  • Anonymous 8.12.07

    Hi Kim,

    Congratulations, I hope?

    You are almost there...

Change the Blog Name to point to your Blog as follows:

    BLOG NAME: http://laketrees.blogspot.com

I noted lifecruiser comment and if she has done completed the procedure than OpenID should work with one key exception as follows:

The Sign-in Radio Button becomes unchecked when you preview your comment.
Once this is done, OpenID defaults back to your Bio page not the Blog page address you entered.

Solution: Make sure the Sign-in Radio Button is checked before publish your comment!

There is a new concern with the security of Blooger OpenID.

    thanks Debbie
I have been off line due to power outage ...so I will check it out :)

  • Anonymous 11.12.07

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been tied up between the New England Patriots game and tinkering with creating a WordPress Blog...

I hope your OpenID security features were enabled without any problems?
Thank you for linking to my OpenID Comment Crusade Posts!

And speaking of WordPress, have you experience problems with WordPress removing the line breaks in your post format? I imported all my Blogger posts to New England Lighthouse Treasues late last night and the line breaks were removed from some posts.

I have inserted the correct HTML line break codes in the posts several times and WordPress spits them out like bad trash with no error explanations. What's is strange is no solutions found online that have worked either. From Blogger stressful issues to WordPress stressful issues.

I may delete the WordPress test Blog if they can't solve the line-break mystery!

  • Anonymous 11.12.07

    Hi Kim,

I have WordPress Post Lift off! After much tribulation, the Line Break Mystery was solved a few minutes ago!

All iMac Bloggers switching to WordPress need to use Firefox to edit WordPress Posts! For reasons unknown, WordPress hates Safari Browsers or Safari hates WordPress.... who cares, as long as our post format does not break down over line breaks!

I am not sure if commenting on my WordPress Blog is active, yet... next on my list to do!

  • Kim 11.12.07

that line break thing is a mystery to me Debbie....my wordpress blog is basically a stills gallery for my artwork....
let me know when you have comment lift off and I'll come and visit.... :)
